I first heard of REIDS Ltd back in 2010, just after leaving school, while working weekends in the local pet-shop. I was looking for a career in electrical engineering, at apprenticeship level, when word-of-mouth brought me to the front door of REIDS.
Being a local company, it was perfect to start my preferred career, so I pitched myself to the Director, Robert Reid, nearly every day, for weeks until he decided to take me on as his second apprentice.
I worked through my apprenticeship, completing the college course and hands-on training alike, gaining both the educational and practical skills of an electrical engineer, and with a City & Guilds Electro-technical & installations qualification.
Since graduating back in 2014, I’ve gone from strength-to-strength within the company, and with the great training Rob and Kyle have provided me with over the years, I became a REIDS team leader, having my own team on the job and organising work throughout the day, being iosh managing safely qualified to manage the team with the highest health & safety standards.
I can’t thank Rob and Kyle enough for the opportunity they’ve provided me with all those years ago, although the work is sometimes hard going and the hours can be long, the jobs we do are such a big variety and… to be honest, there isn’t a thing I would change about REIDS, I love my job, I love going to work, and the feeling I have knowing I started at the bottom and worked up, is great.
